Dear All,
This is one of the more important posts you'll read on this, or any other board. The news below directly affects your life and the lives of all American citizens.
We have the opportunity at this time to abolish the suppresive Income Tax and the IRS. It is suppresive because it penalizes production (work), savings, capital investment and instead redistributes the wealth (earned by you, the producer) to indigent and parasitic people and industries (the non-producers).
There is a proposal called the Fair Tax. It isn't an alternative system like the "flat tax" or other tax schemes proposed in the the last few years. They all still allow the government to take your money at the point of a gun.
The Fair Tax is a tax on consumption, not production. To accomplish this, the proposal calls for a national sales tax. This tax would be collected just like any state sales tax, at the point of sale. The funding of the government would continue, but in a much fairer way. The proposal would also eliminate the agency known as the IRS, repeal the 16th Amendment to the Constitution (permanently), eliminate all income tax, estate tax, corporate taxes, capital gains taxes, etc. It would also provide a rebate for any taxes paid on essentials, such as groceries, rent, medicines, utilities, etc.
Since the passage of the most recent tax reductions in the House and Senate, serious interest in major tax reform has been expressed by many legislators and key administration officials. Actually, there has been a groundswell of interest growing in this direction on Capitol Hill for some years now.
In the last session of Congress, the Fair Tax was introduced as a bill to the House members. At that time it didn't get through the commitee level to the House floor. It will be introduced again. It is one of the most well conceived and thoroughly researched pieces of legislation you are liable to see. It is logical, simple, easily administered and of incredible potential for the economic health and future of this country. It is also firmly grounded within the boundaries of our Constitution (which the 16th Amendment is not) and conforms to the Founders' original intent in the formation of our government.
At this time in our history, the average taxpayer is losing 50% of their earnings to taxation of all sorts. This was definitely not envisioned by the Founders. In fact the over-taxation of the American people was the initial impetus for the creation of the United States of America. We have now come full circle and again, are the unwilling supporters of a bloated oligarchy. This state of affairs has allowed the unchecked growth of a gargantuan government matrix whose size is completely out of proportion to the intentions of those who founded this land.
I urge you to go to http://www.fairtax.org and see for yourself what a brilliant idea this is and how close to real change we really are.
