The whole alien thing as outlined by Sitchin was an attempt to conect lots of ancient happenings under one theory. Rather pathetic. I have not read Alfords book so will comment except to say, if he was citing Sitchin his scholarship is in serious doubt.

His stuff is nonsense, pure and simple. Sitchin says there was a flood - really? Sitchin says that human creatures arose on a planet that for most of its orbit is frozen solid and the light of the sun looks like a pin hole-really? Sitchin says that the aliens were here for 450,000 years - but never left a trace-really? Well one can go on and on-Judgement-nonsense

You should read and heed that warning yourself. Yep, I can say one good thing about Sitchin. For all his nonsense at least he was smart enough to realize he was a fake and refused to deal with the scientific community while Velikovsky was foolish enough to actually think he WAS a scientist.
