I feel tremendous psychic pressure! It is hard to do ANYTHING. It is like having a big burden over my head. I hope this isn't meaning trouble for anyone I know, since the feeling is about the same as it would be for a major public catastrophe.

"The pressure is building" could also be translated "I am overly worried about things beyond my control". It might also be translated "my intuition tells me that something big must be coming up fairly soon."
There is not necessarily anything psychic involved with feeling the "pressure" that you are alluding to. 90 percent of the people in America feel that pressure right now, and it's probably not an indication of psychic perception. It's mostly just a general feeling conjured up in the mind by extrapolating numerous possibilities of danger based on what's in the news, and based what happened 9/11. When you combine that knowledge of current events with the anxiety that is building up as a result of terrorism being constantly in the forefront of the mind, but relatively nothing happening with regard to it for about a whole year now, what you get is a strong sense that "something big must be about to happen soon" or "I feel a strange need to protect myself more closely" or something along those lines.
That's not being psychic, that's just your brain doing it's job of keeping you aware of what it believes you are likely to encounter in the future. And the more time that passes with no terrorist activity, the more your feeling of iminent danger will grow, and the more of a burden it will become.
My suggestion is to escape from ALL news coverage completely for about a week or two. Just ignore it all. You will see that life goes on as usual and everything happens the same way it would otherwise, even when you aren't watching its every move. Trust me, if anything really important happens, you'll be told by someone.
Taking a break from even thinking about the terrorism and war in the news is a good thing for the mind. It may help you to become more centered again, and perhaps to shake that feeling of some ominous act being about to take place. There has been an ominous act about to take place for every second since the world began. Sometimes that thing happens, sometimes it doesn't. Tomorrow could be a terrorist attack, or maybe ten minutes from now will be an earth-destroying comet impact. Or maybe in an hour from now, god will bring time to an end and the universe will cease to exist. See what I mean? Something is ALWAYS "just around the corner", and whether it happens or not doesn't usually depend on whether or not you felt it coming. If something is gonna happen, it'll happen regardless of whether you even care or not. If it's not gonna happen, it won't even if you think you sense that it will.
In the least, getting away from the news for a bit will help you realize that even though ANYTHING could literally happen at ANY moment, there is not much use in worrying so much about it. Especially about terrorism.

Disagree, Bob. Sorry, but the "pressure" is there, even without news.
We have advanced our "survival" group outings a bit. We're planning one of several "survival exercises" to show folks what they are capable of doing.
We're going to test several "systems" we have in place, recall system, duress system, and some exercises in land navigation, and mountain survival in cold weather.
The pressure IS on, and we "relieve it" not by disregarding the news, but by "preparations for things to come".
I DO agree with you about things not being within our control, for the most part. However, even terrorist attacks ARE somewhat within our control, especially if you're in a position to stop something like that, or at least rescue others who've become victims. Remember, we are ALL in control of our destinies... our destinies are not in control of us.

I've moved past the pressure part, and into the "let's kick some butt" part...if we are talking about the war on terrorism, it will last for decades, if not centuries (it's been fought for 1400 years, imo).
We have a long way to go, many wins and losses are coming, I'm past being scared, I'm determined. I'm also surprised at how many people don't understand what we are really up against.
Pre-empt now, on all fronts, inaction will be fatal. The idea that we are spreading ourselves too thin doesn't wash either. We have the capability to fight this war on all fronts at once.
The other side has declared war (in 1998), we would be wise to not ignore them as we have in the past. They are getting better at killing, and our time to wring our hands is short.
If we are talking about natural disasters, like rogue asteroids, I give up, take me...
