This is my first post on this forum. I started reading this forum many months ago, but I could not get registered because of a few technical difficulties.

On to my dream...

My dream occurred in many places, but it was based around the same theme throughout the dream. Both of my parents (my mother and step-father - with whom I live) could read people's minds and current thoughts. For some reason, things that I would not want them to know kept popping up in my mind as thoughts and one of them even attempted to hit me one of those times but I knew it was coming. I wanted badly to block them from reading my thoughts or be able to read thoughts myself. It also wasn't just reading thoughts - but having psychic powers in general. I kept skipping from my home with my parents to being in a texas hold'em poker tournament in a casino and one of the players was psychic and able to win millions of dollars. I remember millions because he was the first person to get the silver/heavy chips. That really stuck out to me for some reason and I wanted badly to be able to read the future to win money.

If anyone could help me with this dream I would be appreciative. I have other dreams which I had when I was younger but have not learned anything about, and I believe they are worth sharing because of the peculiarity (spelling?) - I'll post other dreams at another time.

First of all, I think it is quite common for people to want too much.

As for your dream, I could only guess that for some reason your psyche wants/needs/knows psychic abilities and useage. Perhaps it's a subconscious stimulant to wake up. Therefore, begin researching, training. Don't take anybody's word, look for your self. Just remember, the world's full of bull****ters and con artists, a lot of smart people believe really stupid things, so what ever you find, check it out thoroughly. And don't be just a BELIEVER. Faith is a trap.

Perhaps Osprey or another of the Wise Women will comment. Those gals give value.

That helps a bit - if you could get in contact with Osprey or the others for possible help that would be appreciated. I've always felt different - ina way I can't explain, but I feel different in a way that I can't explain. I feel above others, like I know more than my conscious knows... what did you mean by telling me to research or train? I'd like to know more, tell me what you know?

2fast4U......

OK...so let me get this straight......

You dreamed that you wanted to get away from your mind reading parents becasue they could read your mind and thereby control you. You wanted nothing to do with mind reading or telling the future...so you dreamed you ran away to a casino...where presumably all events are random. BUT you ran into a "Lucky Player" and wanted, in spite of yourself, to be able to read the future and get rich...RIGHT?!?!?

Well...your dream reflects Jung's "Archetypal Hero". The broad outline includes a Seperation...an Initiation...and a Return. In this sense, you seperated from your intolerable birthplace, rejecting authority, and struck out on your own. You wanted to find the antithesis of your parents' world-view of mental pre-destination...and so you wound up in a place (a casino) where chaos and random chance ruled. Paradoxically, however, you were immediately attracted to knowing the Secret of The Lucky Player who could Beat The Odds...

WHY?!?!?...BECAUSE you subconciously recognized a previously unknown aspect of your parents' psychic abilities...that of survival. This is the Initiation aspect of the archetype.

Unfortunately, your dream record stops there. We don't know if you were able to summon forth your OWN Hidden Abilities and become The Lucky Player in your OWN Right.

PERHAPS you FORGOT that part of your Dream...The Closing of The Circle...The Return...when you RETURNED to your Place of Birth and CONFRONTED your parents as The NEW Master of The Universe!!!

...or perhaps your Journey continues...your inner conflict with your parents working against your necessary acceptance of your BirthRight......

Wow that's awesome. A lot of it does apply to me - almost word for word. I feel like the ending hasn't happened in my life yet. I am only 16 years old.

But yes, I felt as I wanted to get away from my parents - as I do now (I can't wait to be out on my own) - I don't like the way my parents live their life and I do not trust in their choices, but we get by.
I do feel that I will be rich in the future, and have a more comfortable life because of it. I be I want to search for happiness, but I do not believe in a god. I am pretty sute I'm atheist. I've also felt unique from others - both older and younger than I.
Could you explain the recognition of my parents' survival as being the Initiation aspect of the archetype?
I feel the dream did not finish because I haven't gotten that far in my life.
Would you be willing to help me by teaching me about interpreting dreams, informing me of a place ONLINE that I could utilize, or give me your E-mail information in case I'm confused by future dreams?

Thanks for all help so far, and I look forward to more help.

Well, I certainly wish I could be so lucid as Kalter. But, I'm not. He seems to have given an excellent interpretation.

2Fast4U, I can't tell you much because I don't really know much. But I would suggest the following books.

Psychic Self Defense by Dion Fortune, ISBN: 1578631513, found at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search...8063827-8300130 .

Man and His Symbols by Karl Jung, ISBN: 0440351839, found at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0...8063827-8300130 . Better you spend the twenty bucks and get the hard cover version. You'll be glad you did. I consider these two books great bargains at almost any price.

It's my opinion that the universe is multiple in some manner or manners that I don't understand. The reasons which initiated this ongoing process of searching are two, and only two, precognitive dreams I've had. It would not have been possible to know those things within those dreams beforehand. Yet when the physical reality unfolded, 'twas exactly as dreamt. Even though such dreams are not permitted in convential views of reality, they occurred to me. Therefore, to me, dreams can be real in the truest sense. But hardly all, or even most dreams, you understand. These two precognitive dreams opened no doors, but proved beyond any doubt that there is a great deal more to existence than most perceive. Possibilities therefore become infinite.

As for training psychic abilites, I know nothing. Go look. Please, do avoid cults. You don't need any other to think for you. They usually require blind obedience and all your money/time/life, while giving no value, anyway.

Remember, this is your body, your mind, your soul, and no-one else can do this for you. Like it or not, we're all on our own. So you MUST think for your self. Only you can save/develop/enlighten you. Others can help, but it's really up to you alone.

Start with a dream book, right beside your bed, so you can write dreams down as soon as you awaken. Prayer and meditation are good. Try to avoid alcohol or hard drugs. Should you decide to use hallucinogens, which is not often advisable, start with the light and easy, in a rational and quiet manner.

Also, avoid hypocrites like me. I don't pray or meditate or have a dream book. Free advice, and all that.

Certainly hope I haven't embarrassed myself in front of Osprey, who will show up when she wishes.

Good post, Kalter.

Here are some questions to ponder along with the segments of your dream (in parentheses) that lead me to this question:
Is it possible that you feel trapped by your parents either physically or mentally (your parents had complete control of you via their psychic ability to read your thoughts and predict your every thought/action)? Is there something in your life you are trying to get away from, especially pertaining to your home or parents (you escaped to an anonymous environment - casino- yet still could not get away from other's control over you)? Do you feel powerless in your current situation (you had no control over others control of you)? Are you searching for deeper knowledge or wisdom (desire to have psychic abilities)? Is there something big you are hiding from your parents (you wanted to hide your true thoughts/feelings from your parents)? Do you feel like you've been duped or victimized by your parents (they used your thoughts against you and even threatened violence)? Do others take advantage of you (the poker game where no matter what you did, the other guy always beat you)?

Also, I suggest reading up on meditation, remembering your dreams (via a dream journal), and spirit guides. You can find info on any of these things by using them as keywords in any search engine. Also, I agree with the previous posters...and having a couple books on dream analysis on hand never hurts.

2fast4U......

The "Initiation" aspect of the dream, in terms of your parents' use of psychic abilities, means that you would be attaining a new realization of the origin of your Being. In this sense, you would accept willingly on the most visceral level the need to have an "edge" in competing against other entities in this world. My use of word "survival" is meant to indicate the continuation of a thread of being extending billions of years earlier than even the creation of The Earth from the Solar Nebula.

Words are quite insufficient to begin to explain The Mystery of Being. One's true "parents" exist in an infinite continuum. Perhaps "individual consciousness" is like the peak of a sine wave. Who Knows?!?!?

Itdincor indicated a MOST VITAL TOOL in The Quest For Self-Discovery......The Dream Journal. I kept one for over a year. It's an excellent means of becoming acquainted with an often neglected part of The Mind. It is NOT meant to be shared with others. The Purpose is to probe the frontiers of one's own life...and to see that there are "influences" which transcend personal conscious awareness. What this means is unclear to me, and I don't want to drift off into subjective metaphors.

Well...anyway......dreams are weird. Much of the content and event-flow raises disturbing questions as to the source of the subject matter and how much of it is "scripted"......

Here's an interesting subject to research...the role of melatonin in dreams. Melatonin is part of a VERY intriguing organic chemical cycle you might want to know about.

Itdincor......

You must have an INTERESTING library!!!

I've got Jung's MAN & HIS SYMBOLS. Do you have any of Jung's papers published by Bollingen??? I've got some of the paperback excerpts of MUCH LARGER collections of treatises.

YES!!!...Dion Fortune is often SUBLIME...as in THE MYSTICAL QUABALAH.

Are you into any of Crowley's writings?

I see you also recommend keeping a Dream Journal.

I must admit that I started mine with the goal of understanding TAROT symbolism.
