First of all, I think it is quite common for people to want too much.
As for your dream, I could only guess that for some reason your psyche wants/needs/knows psychic abilities and useage. Perhaps it's a subconscious stimulant to wake up. Therefore, begin researching, training. Don't take anybody's word, look for your self. Just remember, the world's full of bull****ters and con artists, a lot of smart people believe really stupid things, so what ever you find, check it out thoroughly. And don't be just a BELIEVER. Faith is a trap.
Perhaps Osprey or another of the Wise Women will comment. Those gals give value.

2fast4U......
OK...so let me get this straight......
You dreamed that you wanted to get away from your mind reading parents becasue they could read your mind and thereby control you. You wanted nothing to do with mind reading or telling the future...so you dreamed you ran away to a casino...where presumably all events are random. BUT you ran into a "Lucky Player" and wanted, in spite of yourself, to be able to read the future and get rich...RIGHT?!?!?
Well...your dream reflects Jung's "Archetypal Hero". The broad outline includes a Seperation...an Initiation...and a Return. In this sense, you seperated from your intolerable birthplace, rejecting authority, and struck out on your own. You wanted to find the antithesis of your parents' world-view of mental pre-destination...and so you wound up in a place (a casino) where chaos and random chance ruled. Paradoxically, however, you were immediately attracted to knowing the Secret of The Lucky Player who could Beat The Odds...
WHY?!?!?...BECAUSE you subconciously recognized a previously unknown aspect of your parents' psychic abilities...that of survival. This is the Initiation aspect of the archetype.
Unfortunately, your dream record stops there. We don't know if you were able to summon forth your OWN Hidden Abilities and become The Lucky Player in your OWN Right.
PERHAPS you FORGOT that part of your Dream...The Closing of The Circle...The Return...when you RETURNED to your Place of Birth and CONFRONTED your parents as The NEW Master of The Universe!!!
...or perhaps your Journey continues...your inner conflict with your parents working against your necessary acceptance of your BirthRight......

Well, I certainly wish I could be so lucid as Kalter. But, I'm not. He seems to have given an excellent interpretation.
2Fast4U, I can't tell you much because I don't really know much. But I would suggest the following books.
Psychic Self Defense by Dion Fortune, ISBN: 1578631513, found at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search...8063827-8300130 .
Man and His Symbols by Karl Jung, ISBN: 0440351839, found at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0...8063827-8300130 . Better you spend the twenty bucks and get the hard cover version. You'll be glad you did. I consider these two books great bargains at almost any price.
It's my opinion that the universe is multiple in some manner or manners that I don't understand. The reasons which initiated this ongoing process of searching are two, and only two, precognitive dreams I've had. It would not have been possible to know those things within those dreams beforehand. Yet when the physical reality unfolded, 'twas exactly as dreamt. Even though such dreams are not permitted in convential views of reality, they occurred to me. Therefore, to me, dreams can be real in the truest sense. But hardly all, or even most dreams, you understand. These two precognitive dreams opened no doors, but proved beyond any doubt that there is a great deal more to existence than most perceive. Possibilities therefore become infinite.
As for training psychic abilites, I know nothing. Go look. Please, do avoid cults. You don't need any other to think for you. They usually require blind obedience and all your money/time/life, while giving no value, anyway.
Remember, this is your body, your mind, your soul, and no-one else can do this for you. Like it or not, we're all on our own. So you MUST think for your self. Only you can save/develop/enlighten you. Others can help, but it's really up to you alone.
Start with a dream book, right beside your bed, so you can write dreams down as soon as you awaken. Prayer and meditation are good. Try to avoid alcohol or hard drugs. Should you decide to use hallucinogens, which is not often advisable, start with the light and easy, in a rational and quiet manner.
Also, avoid hypocrites like me. I don't pray or meditate or have a dream book. Free advice, and all that.
Certainly hope I haven't embarrassed myself in front of Osprey, who will show up when she wishes.
Good post, Kalter.
