\"Ground Zero: \"IT\" came from the hype Machine (c) 2000

Ground Zero's early peek at "IT" written in January 2000.

Do you really think we need something like this?

Just curious-- I know it's a big boy toy.. but the hype that spewed and the revolutionary "gotta have" hype has left me flat. It's like I would rather have one of those contraptions that beat an egg in it's shell... I think the George Forman Grill is more impressive than this...

I was hoping that last when I did the show saying that "It" was probably similar to Kamen's last invention-- It was if I killed the Pope.

Well.

Whatever floats one's boat.

It is probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen. So much BS hype over a stupid scooter. As if Americans weren't lazy enough, now we will have a bunch of fat couch potatoes who are too lazy to walk wizzing around the street. Now that is a pretty picture, just if they can make an off road version.

I agree that it's nothing but a toy and it was over hyped, but I have to say that it is a neat little thing. The way it maintains it's balance is pretty cool... it uses gyroscopes just like the ones used to keep rockets flying straight.

I doubt it will catch on with the general public the way cell phones or CD players have, but I think it will be useful for mail carriers and even for police officers and security guards.

It does look kinda nerdy though... I would be embarassed to "drive" it down the street.

LOL, yeah the police can eat a doughnut while riding after bad guys. Too bad there isn't a cup holder for their coffee.

Does anyone really think that this "IT", "SH!T" or what ever, would be considered for use by police departments?????

Yep, Im so shure that this thing will help reduce crime so much, the cops can get rid of their patrol cars and persue criminals in this thing. Im also shure that criminals will trade in their hot rods and gladly go rob a bank or 7-11 and use this as a get-a-way vehicle.

And if you buy that, there is $100.00 bills growing on trees in everyone's backyard.

I would be more impressed if it had a toilet to SH!T in as you zip along at 12mph, complete with an automatic butt wiper.

Not all police officers patrol in cars, some patrol on foot. If you could give the police the ability to patrol areas inaccessible to cars (inside shopping malls or airports for example) they would have an advantage over criminals on foot.

How fast can the average criminal run? I bet it's not 12mph. A police officer on a Segway HT would not get tired as quickly as a criminal who is running.

Maybe they will make the Segway collapsible so it will fit in the trunks of police cars.

The average human can run approximately 10 mph, but people running on foot have an advantage. THEY CAN DODGE! And by looking at that piece of crap... oh sorry, I mean SHT, it probably has the manuverability of a brick. People can zig zag, jump, scurry, tumble, and that thing can go 12 mph and make the rider look like a Dumb ass. Sorry, they can keep that steaming pile of SHT.

The most important invention utilized in the 19th century in America was....the bicycle!
The SHT wasn't designed to replace all other forms of transportation but it does things that have never been done before. It is also a stepping stone to those hovering carts that you see in Sci-Fi movies.

When electicity was first discovered, noone could have predicted the possibilities of computers,we don't always know what doors are opened by new technology.Yea,yea...
I think the important aspect of the SHT technology is the more efficient interface from human mind to machine response. In other words,it's almost like you just think of where you want to go and the SHT responds. When we start to walk,we start by leaning forward, just as you move in the SHT.

Efficiency is the name of the game.I look for other applications of this ergonomic advance.

I guess we have a fan of this SHT. Would that make you a SHT head? Are you going to follow Kamen's every movement?

That's all well and good because I agree that this SHT has potential.

I was convinced by a friend of mine the thoughts that you were expressing about SHT and I am beginning to see that there may be more to this SHT than we realize.

They always say that if you test drive vehicle you fall in love with it. So I guess if I was in the Mall and some guy offered me a chance to stand in SHT I Probably would.

So I guess we will have to wait and see what may happen to the SHT and whether or not Kamen can take a SHT and mold it into a remarkable invention that WILL change our lives.

Until then always remember that if you take a SHT at the top of an incline-- put the parking brake on because SHT always rolls down hill.

I hope you don't mind me giving you a little SHT.. This is jevenile fun and well I don't have a chance to do this scatalogical schtick all the time...
